The passion for gelato arrived at the age of 30 after a serious crisis in Giancarlo’s family wine business, which inspired him to change his profession.
Giancarlo entered the magical world of homemade ice-cream with an immediate desire to learn how to master his crafts to the best. He met Italian artisan gelato masters including Carlo Pozzi, Luca Caviezel, Fulvio Scolari, Enzo Vannozzi and Donata Pancera, who sowed the seeds of curiosity and passion in him.
Giancarlo taught ice-cream crafts at the Civiform in Cividale del Friuli and was elected as the National President of Co.Gel (Committee of Ice Cream Makers of the Fipe) in 2000.
In 2003, Giancarlo founded the Gelato World Cup (Coppa del Mondo della Gelateria), together with some illustrious colleagues. Since then, he has been the president of Gelato World Cup and become a significant icon in the gelato industry.
